We barely see each other.
That’s how it was for the last four days. I was staying inside my office finishing urgent documents and projects. If I were not in my office, I attend meetings with our stake holders. I barely see anyone from my team if it is not urgent or non relevant at all. My four days were routinary and I feel like it was months already. I miss her. I miss Mayumi. More than the sexcapades, I just miss her. We had good times. Best times for me. It was the final day of the week and I had abandoned all the hopes of seeing her. I didn’t want to bother her as I fully understand how urgent and important all the things she was doing for the last three days.
I am assuming that I may not see her anymore. Nagkulong lang ako buong araw sa aquarium ko sa office. It was already 10pm and I am the only one who is in the office. Mariel knocked in and to my surprise, andito pa siya sa office.
“Anj..”
“Hey Mariel. Why are you still here?”
“Just finished some reports. Actually yung pinapagawa niyo po about the deep dive analysis of quality measurement for Paris outbranching.”
“Oh. Yeah, right. Thanks. You should be going home na. It’s late na.”
“It’s okay Anj. I’ll be going out with friends din naman later. Since weekends tomorrow. you should be going home na din. You are staying here late for the last four days.”
“I’m fine. Just need to finish some final touches na isa submit ko so when Mayumi gets to Sweden, they’ll just discuss it.”
“Oh. Okay. Alright. I’ll be going. See you when I see you.”

I almost forgot na meron din pala akong buhay outside this aquarium. I’m fixing some of my things after thirty minutes or more. When someone called me. I didn’t even noticed someone has gotten into my office.
“Anj!”
“Jesus Christ! Mayumi?”
“I’m sorry haha Did I starled you? and what’s with the Mayumi thing?”tatawa tawa nitong tanong sa akin. I was surprised that she was still here. I am surprised and happy at the same time to see her.
“Why are you still here?”tanong ko.
“Oh but why are YOU still here?”balik tanong nito sa akin. as if it was the first time. I think we both read what’s with each other’s head, at nagtawanan kaming dalawa.
“You’re place? Coffee?”tatawa tawa kong tanong sa kanya.
“But of course! Coffee, my place.”ngiting sagot nito sa akin.
Dali dali akong nagligpit ng mga gamit ko at pumunta sa parking. Amoy na amoy ko ang pabango ni Mayumi, Tease ng VS. At dahil Friday, semi casual lang ang suot niya, pencil miniskirt at polo shirt at pumps. Di ko maiwasang amuy amuyin siya habang nasa elevator kami.
“Baka masinghot mo ako. Haha!”
“Eh ang bango mo eh. I really like your perfume.”
“I always wear this perfume, and you have smelt me, many times.”
Natawa nalang ako sa sinagot nito. Oo, yan ang lagi niyang pabango. Habang nasa daan kami, nagkukwentuhan kami about our week. She was busy turning over all the documents and task for Manila which happens dun sa papalit sa kanya at bagong employee ito. She teased me na lagi ko din itong makakasama and I asked kung mas maganda at mas sexy sa kanya. For me to find out daw. Mas madalas din daw siyang naka conference nag 2 days siya sa Singapore for some urgent data appreciation. That explains why I am not seeing her.
As for me, inaayos ko actually ang mga maiiwan niyang work dito kailangan ko ding tapusin ang Sweden project na ilo-launch nila doon. Sabi ko din sa kanya na pulido na ang lahat at ipe present nalang. They can tweak the presentation if they want to as I have included all the back up data and contingency presentation for various scenario.
“Such quite a busy man. Now enough of work. Just for hours.”sabi niya sa akin.
“So have you packed your things? What time ang flight mo bukas?”
“All set and done sir. All my bags are packed down, Im ready to go..”paakyat na din kami sa kanyang unit.
“I need a favour. Can you.. Can you bring me to airport tomorrow? Gabi madaling araw kasi ang flight ko. So I need to be there atleast 11pm. Please?”pagsusumamo nito sa akin. Di ko alam kung nahihiya ba siya o nag aalangan siya na iask ako ng favour. Which is which, di naman din ako tatanggi.
“Happy to serve!”sabay palakpak ko siya namang pagtawa niya.
Agad niyang hinanda ang coffee maker at ako naman ay tumuloy tuloy sa veranda niya. I was looking at the city lights and remembered the first time we were here. She has this talent of getting near you without you noticing her. She hugged from behind and placed her head at my back. Nangiti nalang ako at nailing. I don’t to assume anything from here. We were on that position for I think good ten minutes. I’m hearing her mumbling and I turned around and looked at her.
“And what are you mumbling?”
“Oh, nothing. Nothing.”
“Siguro you’re saying ‘mamimiss kita. i really don’t want to go. i want to stay here.” tatawa tawa pa ako habang ginagaya ko ang accent niya. She went red and quiet. Nag pout siya bigla.
“I hate you.”akma itong tatalikod na sa akin ay kinabig ko siya bigla and for the nth time, nagkadikit ang aming mga katawan. Tinitigan ko siya at nakapout parin. Nangiti ako dahil ang ganda ganda niya padin.
“Well, I’m gonna miss you. I don’t know when will I see you again. But always remember, you will always be special to me. You have your place here in my heart.”sabi ko sa kanya.
“Ay sus. Nambola ka pa.Okay lang naman sa akin if di mo ako mamiss na someday. It’s okay if I do not have a special place in your heart. I’m just happy that I met you. You’re one of the happiest happened in my life.”yumakap itong muli sa akin.
Yun lang at nagkatitigan kami, at nakalimutan na namin ang kape namin. Hinalikan ko siya sa noo, pababa sa kanyang mata, ilong, at ang kanyang mga labi. It was a slow kiss but torrid. It’s as if we are memorizing each other’s lips and the kisses. Those kisses that only belongs to her and to me. Now, I am sure that I have totally fallen for her. I am happy as well that I met her, it may not be in an unexpected time, but I can say she’s something different from the others.
